Sir Colin Campbell of Glenorchy.

D 8 and S 7.

Quarterly 1st and 4th Gyronny of eight Or and Sable. 2nd Or a fess chequy Azure and Argent. 3rd Argent a lymphad sable.

The Clan Campbell were probably the most powerful family in Scotland for much of its history, and were frequently more so than even the Kings.

In 1900 it was claimed that the Chief could ride from east to west for a hundred miles without leaving his own lands.

The lymphad or galley refers to their ancient Norse ancestry, and the gyronny of eight in gold and black is a feature in most Campbell arms, while the fess chequy Azure and Argent marks their Stewart ancestry.
